Adonai

Psalm70:5

THE GOD WE NEED

Day 3: Adonai

The Gardener

"But I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay." (Psalm 70:5, NIV)

🌾

There is a need that surfaces when life feels directionless. Decisions pile up. Voices offer opinions from every side. And somewhere underneath the noise, a question waits. Who is actually leading here?

🌱

Scripture answers with a name that predates even Yahweh in the biblical text. Adonai, meaning Lord and Master, the One to whom all authority and ownership belong. Where Yahweh reveals His unchanging being, Adonai reveals His rightful place, over your life, your decisions, your days.

To call Him Adonai is to hand Him the reins. Not because He demands control, but because He alone can carry it well.

🌻

This is how He meets the need for direction. He does not simply offer advice from the sidelines. He becomes Master over the very things that overwhelm you, taking authority where you have none, leading where you cannot see.

A ship without a captain drifts wherever the current pulls it. A life without a Master does the same.

You were never meant to steer alone. Adonai does not ask you to hand over a mess and manage it Himself from a distance. He steps in as Owner and Guide, present in every decision you are too tired to make.

Every ship needs a captain. You have found yours.

🌿

Prayer

Adonai, Master and Lord, I hand You what I cannot carry alone, my decisions, my direction, my days. Lead me where I cannot see. Amen.
